Development Assistant

Barter Theatre (founded 1933) – a full-time, year-round LORT – AEA resident repertory company located in the mountains of Southwestern Virginia, is seeking a Development Assistant for full-time employment beginning immediately.  The Development Assistant works in tandem with the Director of Development and Associate Director of Development on the day-to-day business of maintaining a current donor database and processing daily donations.

Duties include:  Processing all charitable donations as well as classifying donations for the Business Office.  Balancing accounts accurately daily, weekly and monthly.  Maintaining accurate listings of donor levels for recognition in the Souvenir Program.  Coordinating monthly renewals as well as special event mailings.  Performing prospect research as needed.  Completing general clerical duties.  The successful candidate must possess the ability to work independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels inside and outside the organization.  The successful candidate will also be a successful communicator, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as using mail merge.

Historic Barter Theatre offers a wide variety of productions including world premieres, developing new works, musicals, and classics in two newly renovated theatre spaces.  We value a collaborative work environment.

The Barter Players

Marketing

Upcoming Auditions

 Auditions at Barter Theatre

For boys who look like they are between the ages of 6 and 10.

Saturday, May 10 from 10:00 a. m. – NOON

Barter Theatre is holding auditions for the role of CHIP in the upcoming musical Beauty and the Beast and the role RALPHIE of in the upcoming play The Desperate Hours both of which are slated to perform at Barter’s Mainstage this fall.

 

Interested? Here’s what you should do -

Before The Audition

  • Get your parent’s permission.

  • Prepare a monologue no longer than one minute and a song no longer than thirty seconds for the audition. If you want to be considered for the role of RALPHIE only, then you need only to do the monologue and not the song.

For the Audition

  • Arrive early and be prepared to stay the entire time. The audition is Saturday, May 10, 10 a. m. – NOON.  Please plan to arrive by 9:45am.

  • If you are singing, bring your sheet music with you to the audition.

  • Your monologue should be a short memorized piece that helps us see your ability to communicate and project your voice in the theatre.

Beauty and the Beast and Desperate Hours rehearsals begin late this summer. The shows open mid September and early October and run until mid-November. For the exact time of every performance, visit our website, www.bartertheatre.com   We plan to double cast both roles so you would not be expected to be in every performance.
