More of the Story...
"Sometimes even Zombies need a little love,” said a joking Richard Rose, producing artistic director of Barter Theatre and director of the 50s-style musical romp, Zombie Prom. Opening Barter Theatre's fall season, critics liken Zombie Prom to Grease meets Little Shop of Horrors. "The music is inspired by 1950s doo-wop and rock-n-roll,” said Rose.more >
Show Reviews
Zombie Prom: A Musical is Delightfully Silly Remember the ‘50s? They were times of the peace between wars, bobbi socks, poodle skirts, Vaselined flat-tops, ’57 Chevies, the pre Elvis, pre-Beetles beginnings of rock and roll—and also stark terror as Russian nuclear bombs were expected to start falling at any second and we stockpiled dried food and Geiger counters in church basements and the local caves. Easy to laugh about now; not so at the time.more > — Robert McKinney, Bristol Herald Courier, www.tricities.com

"We visited the Stage II location for Zombie Prom. Very intimate seating arrangement with the front rows of seats, literally on the stage. Live music made the play even more special. We thoroughly enjoyed this show."more > — fenway88 from Charlotte, NC via TripAdvisor.com
Zombie Prom
Music by Dana Rowe, Book and Lyrics by John Dempsey, Based on a story by John Dempsey and Hugh Murphy
"A Thrilling 50s-Style Atomic Rock-N-Roll Musical Romp" What’s a pretty senior to do when her rebel-without-a-cause boyfriend drives his motorcycle into an atomic power plant, only to come back as an oozing zombie hell-bent on winning her back? Does she still go with him to the prom? At Enrico Fermi High the answer is likely to be "yes." With supercharged doses of Little Shop of Horrors and Grease, this girl-meets-ghoul musical explodes with exciting mutations of doo-wop, teen ballads, rousing gospel and rock music to release a radioactive feel-good glow upon the entire nuclear family! Tickets starting at $30.
