Director's Notes What do you believe in? Beliefs—religious, political, moral—wars are fought, communities are founded, families are formed, people argue, fight and die over their beliefs. When do you know what it is you believe? At birth? As an adolescent? A teenager? In college? In times of stress? Or joy? Do you believe what your parents believed? Or are your beliefs formed when you look into the eyes of your own child? Or when you lie on your death bed? Or when you stand on that bridge deciding whether or not to jump? Or after we’re gone from this existence? Do our beliefs change? Do they bring us peace or anguish or guilt or happiness? Do they bring us closer to family and friends or tear us apart? Or do we choose our friends in order to validate our beliefs? What if you have no friends, no family, no one to validate you? How do you know your beliefs are true? With so many beliefs, how can one be right and another wrong? Rarely are things black or white. Black and white makes grey.more >

I saw Sunset Limited yesterday at the Barter Theatre. It was stunning! It was funny, poignant, sad, thought provoking and very, very well acted. At the end I could just sit and say, "Wow." I see a great deal of theatre, and Sunset Limited was one of the best works I have been in some time.more > — mdonnallan, Enon, Ohio via TripAdvisor.com

By Cormac McCarthy
A Masterful Exploration of the Nature of Good and Evil The brilliantly articulated story, penned by the wildly acclaimed Pulitzer Prize-winning author of No Country for Old Men, involves two strangers and their struggle over the meaning and value of life. Death seems to be the desired escape for one, while a life filled with hope and faith provides meaning for the other. Hope and despair clash in a battle that strikes both men to the core of their existence. Opposing beliefs and rich dialogue unfold in this intense, gripping and thought-provoking story.
