Showtime at First Baptist
I think change comes most difficult to a small town because small towns are so much like families.
We have our “ways of doing things” and when someone asks us why we do things that way, sometimes the best answer we can come up with is, “because that’s the way it’s always been done. ” A small town, like a family, wants to preserve its roots, its traditions.
Show Reviews
This is, at once, a serious play and a delightful comedy. Seeing the assortment of hats that the women wear is, alone, worth the price of admission. Not to mention the thrill of having your senses enraptured by some of our favorite actors doing what they do so well.more > — Robert McKinney, Bristol Herald Courier
These six women, often through guile, open defiance, or other means, find ways to empower themselves and effect changes in their lives. And as they do so, you can't help but be taken in.more > — Thomas Bryant, A! Magazine for the Arts
The Southern women who inhabit the world of Ivy Gap, Tenn., are amazing. Osborne can definitely write great women characters. It is small-town politics at its most entertaining.more > — Shari Stacy, Washington County News
WOW! That was simply fantastic! Hats off to all the cast and crew of Showtime at the 1st Baptist. They all did a great job, and it was a pleasure to watch.more > — M.S., patron via Barter's Web site

Showtime at First Baptist
by Ron Osborne
First Baptist of Ivy Gap's 100th anniversary picnic was a smashing success, except for one little thing: a bolt of lightning destroyed the sanctuary. To raise spirits (and funds), six of the church's leading ladies plan a talent show. Change is in the air as these diverse women challenge each other on an inspiring journey filled with laughs, loss and lots of love.
