2013 Summer Workshop and Sessions

The Barter Youth Academy Summer Musical Theatre Workshops for all ages for 2013 are full and closed with the exception of the following:

 

Middle School (upcoming 6th-8th grades):
Finding the Arc of a Character: “The Wizard of OZ” (Young Performers Edition)
How does a character change from the beginning of a story to the end? It’s an actor’s job to figure that out. For the first time ever, this show is available in a student form with the music from the original MGM film. So grab your ruby slippers and your Tin Man’s ax and come along for a magical trip!

Tues/Thursdays 5:00-7:30pm
Workshop begins June 7th with Casting Call then every Tues/Thurs from June 11th-July 25th. The Demonstration for family and friends will be held July 29th at the Barter Theatre!
Place: Abingdon 4-H Conference Center
Tuition $200

Pre-Academy (5 yr- upcoming 2nd grade)
Introduction to the Stage!
Students will be introduced to the basic concepts and terminology of the stage and how it is used to tell a story. It’s a great intro class to students wishing to get more involved in theatre as they get older

Place: at the 4-H Conference Center in Abingdon
June 18th - July 23rd (Parents/Friends are welcome to come to class on July 23rd for our open house)
Tuition is $100

To register by phone with a credit card call (276.619.3344).
To register in person with a check or cash stop by the Barter Administrative offices during business hours Mon-Fri.  

Once workshops are full, waiting lists will be formed.

Tuition

Summer Musical Theatre Workshop tuition is $200 ($50 non-refundable deposit required to reserve space for your student). Musical Theatre workshops always cost a little more than Spring/Fall due to extra cost of musical materials (cd’s and books) and extra staffing needed (ie choreographers, musical directors).   Mutliple siblings receive +10% off for each subsequent student.
Scholarships are available.
