Barter Players Artistic Director

Katy Brown is proud to have served audiences at Barter Theatre since 1998 as a director, choreographer, acting coach, dramaturge, actor and administrator. Katy has directed more than ninety professional productions, including The 39 Steps, Violet, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Dead Man’s Cell Phone, A Thousand Cranes, The Foreigner and world premieres such as The Quiltmaker; Doubting Thomas and Don’t Cry for Me, Margaret Mitchell. She also directed the production of Of Mice and Men that was seen in the fall of 2009 all over the United States on Barter Theatre's national tour. In addition to serving as the artistic director of The Barter Players, she is head of casting for Barter Theatre.


Associate Artistic Director of The Barter Players

Barrett Guyton is thrilled to serve as the Associate Artistic Director of The Barter Players. He is a proud alumnus of The Barter Players and The Barter Players Encore Company, where he learned that with bravery and imagination, you can make the world a better place. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and in Health Care Management. Barrett has directed over a dozen shows at the Barter, including The Barter Players’ productions of: The Princess and the Pea; The Scarlet Letter; The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe; The Neverending Story; Amelia Earhart; The Giver; Charlotte’s Web; and A Wrinkle in Time, as well as Barter Theatre productions of The Lemonade Stand and A Tuna Christmas.


Associate Director of The Barter Players

Sarah Van Deusen is honored to serve as the Associate Director of The Barter Players. She is a proud two-year alumnus of The Barter Players, where she learned that theatre truly can change the world. Favorite Barter Player roles include: Buck (The Call of the Wild), Aslan (The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe), and The Giver (The Giver). Other Barter Theatre credits include: Rachel (The Lemonade Stand) and Liz (Ghost, Ghost Come Out Tonight). She most recently directed The Adventures of Tom Sawyer for The Barter Players. She is a graduate of Wittenberg University with a Bachelor of Arts in both Theatre and English. More at
